This was the very first 'large project' I worked on in ceramics and while it may not seem like it from first glance, this piece is actually inspired by one of my favorite video game consoles, the Sega Saturn.
The summer prior to creating this, I bought a Sega Saturn, along with an assortment of games. It quickly became one of my most played consoles (despite being almost 30 years old). NiGHTs into Dreams, Sonic R, Fighters Megamix, and Burning Rangers were all games that I played to DEATH during the early days of my Saturn ownership.
The purpose of this piece was not only to resemble the Sega Saturn's Japanese (and European) logo, but it was also to symbolize of a very special period of my life that I'll never forget: my mini obsession with the Sega Saturn
